Rebirth of “the ‘Stang”
As many of you likely know, and most of you don’t, I have a 1993 Mustang GT convertible I am very very fond of. A little over a year ago, I was coming home at night when a feral hog decided to nearly end my life, and my car’s. Below is a picture of the aftermath, the sow is on the left.

It was one of the luckiest and saddest days of my driving life. After my insurance company decided they were not going to fix my car, I took her back and decided to do this myself. After all, it’s not THAT bad, and all the damage is repairable by someone with time and patience.
In a couple of weekends, my friend Steve (aka: Crash) and I will be taking a few days to do as much work as possible on her. There will still be the matter of paint, but otherwise she will be done and back on the road. Tires are also a concern, as I am sure there are flat spots from sitting as well as locking up all four wheels during the wreck. This isn’t my first time digging into a car, so I’m sure we can finish up the body work and few modifications I have started on. Most important is getting her back into form before the Texas springtime hits, so I can get paint on her and have the wind in my hair this summer.
Well, ok, so I don’t have much hair anymore.
Sorry it’s been so long since my last post, certain events transpired as to put me out a little on this thing. I’ll try and not let it bug me so much and start posting more often. Details on the ‘Stang to follow soon enough, as well as some more pics.

were you able to salvage any pork chops?

Hehehe, I’ve been asked that more than once.
The sow I hit was VERY pregnant, and without being too gross, she gave birth a little prematurely. Pics are available here if you wanna see some of the, ahem, debris.

no thanks, but I bet they would have good on a ritz

So a feral tried to take your life, huh? I’m a ferrell, and we’re not all that bad, but I was pregnant around the same time this one was. However, unlike the hog, I survived the birth of my child (barely).

Well I’ll be! ’sup stranger! Checked out your little family newsletter, cute.
Glad you, grub, and hub are all well, hope to hear again from you.
How’s the rest of your clan?

So you saw the news letter, huh? I’m sorry. That’s the work of my father-in-law. We got hitched and moved to Austin and we just had a baby. Are you ever gonna have kids, or is your stang your only baby? The rest of the clan still live in Denton. Same ol’ same ol’. Except for Matt who lives here in Austin right down the street from me. By the way, I didn’t see any pics of the goats. Do you still have goats?

I’ve seen worse. No kids here, not even of the ungulate manner. Sold off the goats for this season to let the pastures settle and give myself some more free time.
Denton has a habit of being a black hole for the same ol’ same ol’.
Kinda glad I’m not there anymore, but I do miss the good times from time to time.

Well, I guess it’s not really the same ol’ same ol’. Everyone is actually doing really well, despite Denton. They have all actually become really cool people. Go figure.
I guess that’s good about the goats. More free time would be wonderful. We don’t know what that is right now. We’ve lived in a 3rd floor apartment for 3 years, but now we’re about to buy a house (finally!) and we move in two weeks, so we’re pretty busy, but it’s going to more than double our space and we get a back yard for the dogs.
I don’t really miss anything about Denton, except my family. So what do you do for fun these days?
March 4th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Not much really. I still live out in the middle of nowhere, and enjoy it. The missus and I are both working full-time jobs, and the schedules don’t always give us the chance to get out at the same time. I’m really desperate for a vacation at this point, and am trying to find a way to get back to Belize for it. Nice country, everyone should go at least once.
Apartments suck goat. I’ll never live in another one. I’m lucky I have neighbors that don’t hate me now, we actually get along great and we live almost a half mile apart.
I did make it back to Denton not too terribly long ago, for work believe it or not. Gonna be back there later on next month for a friend’s wedding too. Hope they find a way out of there before it eats them alive too.

That sucks. When Phil and I first got married we both worked full time, but he wanted me to quit to go back to school. I did that for a couple of years and then we decided to have a baby. It was weird. Nat came to visit and she knew I was pregnant before I did. She has this strange sixth sense about these things. She just looked at me and knew.
For real apartments suck. We have this weirdo neighbor who is a total psycho. He punched his dog in the face because it was trying to get away from him. He’s afraid of our dogs because they bark really loudly and aggressively everytime he comes near either one of us. That’s one of the nice things about having dogs. No one wants to mess with you. I’ll feel more comfortable living in a house with them too, because I’m home by myself most of the day, but if anyone comes near our front door they bark.
So Belize, huh? Is that Caribbean? Phil and I were talking about going somewhere tropical this Summer. I just want somewhere that isn’t trashed and filled with tourists. The fewer people, the better. What’s it like?
I’m going up to Denton next month too for someone’s birthday. Who’s getting married? Do I know them? We didn’t keep in touch with very many people when we left.

Yucatan Peninsula, and an ex-British colony. English is the national language, but Carib is the dialect you will hear most. It’s not too crowded, but there are enough things to do to keep you busy. We got to go cave tubin’, definitely an incredible trip there.
You might know them, Alex and his fiance’ Cheryl. I’m brewing the beer for the wedding, taking about 30-40 gallons there. Should get everyone in the dancing mood. Even funnier, it’s on Laura and I’s anniversary! For us it is a double celebration.
