My 15 minutes just went poof!
Today, my name was brought into public view during a presentation to the commissioners of Texas Parks and Wildlife, where I work, during public hearings. I happen to be the head “everything” for wireless projects, both for public access in state parks and agency-use-only networks. I don’t normally get too worked up about who knows what I do, and how hard I work to do it, but today was a high point in my career. I don’t expect to get much mention for my efforts, but in reality, I enjoyed the snot out of it. I’ve been riding that high all day.
It’s not hard to do what I do sometimes, because I enjoy it. I’ve always had some weird draw to pushing 1’s and 0’s from A to B, and what I’ve done for TPWD just falls right into that. It’s been a great pleasure creating a solution the agency has faith in, and I can’t express how much I appreciate the buy-in from my management in the solutions I’ve provided. We’re saving a bunch of money as opposed to a commercial solution, getting kudos from the public and agency employees, and keeping me challenged and excited all at once. I didn’t do a thing to deserve this, but I’ll take my warm-fuzzies where I can find them.
I look forward to the near future.

You go Taylor! I remember your “custom” hardware, and your enthusiasm. Best to you and yours.

The hardware isn’t nearly as custom as the software. I found a vendor that sells good stuff, and is local to us enough to get spare parts quickly. I can say without a doubt I am thrilled to have gotten this lucky.
Thanks Pam! If I remember correctly, your park was the first? You’ll forgive me if I am wrong, I have had so many come through…

Yep. Just graduated in December, and will start a job in a couple of weeks. The time off has been nice, but it will be even nicer to get busy again.
I just remember that ugly thing hanging from the ceiling. I’m glad you can do more with it now.

So, about a couple of months ago we bought an apple t.v. We’re kind of apple oriented folk. Anyway, this neat little contraption takes all of our photos that are on my macbook and displays them randomly on our television as it plays music in the back ground.
Christmas day we decided to turn on a little bit of Christmas music. I was in the bedroom getting ready and my darling husband came upstairs and I heard him yell. I went into the loft and he was staring at the screen.
Lo’ and behold, who’s was it, but Taylor’s nice hairy butt climbing across our big screen television. Apparently, you had decided to moon the camera at one point a long time ago, and it has now been branded for time and all eternity on the mind’s eye of my dear sweet husband. I couldn’t have bought him a better present with all the money in the world. Hahaha! Merry Christmas.

BAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAH! What an extension of fame!
Nice to know old pics are still floating about. Any chance you could send that to me?

Yeah. Send me your email address. I don’t know what it is.
